The Turkish Foreign Ministry said the decision of the Libyan House of Representatives (HoR) to withdraw the vote of confidence given to the National Unity Government will not contribute to the stability and transition process of Libya.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Turkish Foreign Ministry reiterated that it is important that the Government of National Unity remains at work with full authority until elections – slated for December 24, as foreseen in the road map of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.

“Remaining in office will allow the government to organize elections on the set date to manage the transition process well and to preserve the calm environment in the country.” The Foreign Ministry said.

It said that at the current critical stage, it is beneficial for all parties in Libya to set aside their self-interest struggles and vicious legitimacy debates to focus on Libya’s priorities responsibly.
