The deputy minister of agriculture and livestock of the Government of National Accord Fathi Biram met with the assistant of Turkish ambassador to Libya Hussein Haddad as well as TIKA director and discussed technical support provision in agriculture investment, fishing and other related work of the Ministry of Agriculture.

The two sides agreed to build ports for fishing and to exchange expertise in agriculture fields as the deputy minister reiterated to Libyan News Agency in Tripoli that agriculture sector should have enough attention to provide food and important products amid the ongoing deteriorating conditions following the impact of coronavirus pandemic.

He also called for supporting food programs and afforestation as well as encouraging farmers around the country, saying they have cooperation agreements with many international organizations in these fields.

The assistant of Turkish ambassador to Libya said celebrating the International Day of Afforestation on November 11 is a good event to announce the start of afforestation program in Libya as part of Libyan-Turkish cooperation, which aims to plant 1000 trees, the first of which was planted by the officials as an inauguration of the project.
