The Tunisian President, Kais Saied, has ordered the reopening of borders with Libya starting 7.00 am on Friday, saying in a meeting with the Tunisian Foreign Minister, Othman Al-Jarandi, Interior Minister-designate, Rida Ghreslawi, and Health Minister-designate, Ali Marabet, that the decision came after reviewing the results of the Tunisia-Libya committees of security and health.

Saied said the agreed-upon health protocol must be adhered to and any violations could cause a reconsideration of the opening of borders, ordering the presence of health teams for Coronavirus vaccination on border crossing checkpoints in addition to intensifying vaccination at diplomatic missions and consulate of Tunisia in Libya.

Libyan and Tunisian ministerial delegations, meeting in Djerba, agreed on security and health protocol for opening border crossings between the two countries for both travelers and traders.
