Tunisian President Kais Saied says that Tunisia rejects any attempts to divide Libya, as he reiterated his country's permanent readiness to support efforts towards a political settlement that paves the way for development and reconstruction, as he put it.

Saied's statements were released by the Tunisian Presidency following the former's meeting with Foreign Minister Najla Al-Manqoush, on Friday.

A Libyan delegation headed by Al-Manqoush participated in the joint consultation session between Algeria, Tunisia, and Libya in Tunis.

President Saied reaffirmed his country's position on the Libya crisis, which -according to the Tunisian Presidency -is based on supporting a peaceful inter-Libyan solution away from foreign interference and adherence to the unity of the country. He emphasized that security and stability in Libya mean stability in Tunisia.

"Tunisia respects the choices of the Libyan people and is confident that the Libyans have the capabilities, which enable them to overcome this delicate situation... despite the difficult regional and international circumstances and the severity and multiplicity of the challenges presented," Saied said.

The statement said Al-Manqoush briefed Saied on the latest developments in Libya and efforts to find a political way out through genuine inclusive dialogue.

On Friday, Al-Manqoush headed Libya's delegation in the tripartite consultation session that included Tunisian Foreign Minister Othman Al-Jarandi and Algerian Ramtane Lamamra.

The three top diplomats reiterated the importance of the ties that link their nations and their belief that they share the same destiny, according to a statement by the Government of National Unity.
