A meeting was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Tripoli on Monday that gathered many elders and tribes from all over the country including those who are still loyal to the former regime.

The meeting was held under the banner of reconciliation and the gathering saw the many attendees observe the breaking of the fast at the well renowned Tripoli hotel.

It was held under the auspices of the High Council of Reconciliation (HCR) and Tripoli Revolutionaries’ Brigade (TRB).

“After a group Iftar, many topics were discussed and files opened in order to support a comprehensive national reconciliation. In addition, Tripoli will only be the capital of peace, harmony and national dialogue. We welcome all the national components and the Libyan tribes in support of peace.” The TRB stated on their Facebook page.

Among those present were the Gaddafi and Magerhi tribes who are of course tied not only by name but also by blood to the old regime.

The HCS said in a statement that “this visit comes as a call for a comprehensive national reconciliation that will bring security and stability throughout Libya, to achieve social justice and create development and prosperity for the homeland and citizen who have both suffered the scourge of war. The fighting, displacement, high cost of living and instability must be addressed.”
