The Libyan Transportation Ministry has denounced the mandatory landing of a Libyan Airlines flight, heading to Jordan from Misrata Airport, in Benina Airport in Benghazi by the east-based authorities.
The Transportation Ministry condemned the incident in a statement on Thursday and said it was an irresponsible measure - force-landing a plane with 105 passengers onboard - by the illegitimate Civil Aviation Authority in eastern Libya.
The Ministry added that the plane was heading to Amman Airport in Jordan and that the procedures taken by Benina Airport are unprofessional and violate civil aviation and safety laws.
It added that this behavior by eastern authorities caused trouble and suffering for the passengers since most of them were elderly travelling for medical treatment, let alone the financial cost of the stoppage and landing before reaching destination.
Military authorities of Khalifa Haftar in eastern Libya issued an order Wednesday to force-land any planes taking off from Misrata and Mitiga Airports in western Libya for "security and customs reasons".
