A Tobruk government official has threatened to launch attacks inside Britain and the United States if both countries carried out strikes in Libya without coordination with his government.

In an interview with the Egyptian channel On TV, Thursday, the chairman of Tobruk government’s information authority, Omer Al-Gawiri, threatened to carry out military attacks in London if Britain conducted any military operation in Libya without coordination with his government or what he called the "Libyan Army."

"Libya is a free and sovereign state, and any EU military operation, especially from Britain, in Libya without coordination with the government would be considered a hostile act." He said.

"London is a capital for terrorism. It harbours terrorists and provides them with housing and residence." He claimed.

Al-Gawiri also threatened to do the same with the United States.

"Both countries have to think ten times before dealing with Libya. We will carry attacks in London, if we obtained the military capability, in order to protect ourselves, and with money we can obtain everything." He explained.

Al-Gawiri is well-known for his bold statements. In May, he lashed out at the Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi for criticizing Tobruk government. He said “Essebsi will be lit and burnt then turn to ashes,” in response to Essebsi’s statement in which he said that "Tobruk government has no actual power on the ground and that being recognized internationally remains meaningless."

Al-Gawiri has previously spilled similar statements that provoked Tunisia’s outrage. He said, “Tobruk government may find it necessary to open an embassy in Mount Alhaanbe, a stronghold of IS militants, and another in Carthage Palace" as a reaction to Tunisia’s decision to open a consulate in Tripoli.
