The spokesperson of Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sabah Al-Rafei said yesterday that its government is checking the validity of the information regarding the detention of 12 Jordanians in Libya.

The Jordanian news agency, Petra, reported Al-Rafei as saying, “We are making the needed calls and efforts on all levels to verify this news so that we can act accordingly,” stressing that the safety of citizens is always a priority for the government.

In the meantime, Tobruk government claimed in a statement yesterday that what it called “the criminal gangs” in control of Tripoli kidnapped 12 Jordanians, yet it then deleted the statement hours after its release.
