Local media sources have reported a raid by a massive armed group loyal to Khalifa Haftar on Tamenhent air base in Sabha, south Libya. The sources said the armed group came from Jufra, where Haftar's forces are positioned.

According to local media, the raid was given the go-ahead after a meeting for Saddam with several militia leaders in the south, including Hussein Al-Zadma, after news broke about the defection of Mabrouk Al-Sahban from Haftar's camp and joining of Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi's camp.

Gaddafi-loyal social media pages reported Al-Sahban's joining "Saif Gaddafi's forces" while Haftar-loyal activists said the armed group that went to Sabha was led by Al-Sahban and it was ordered to arrest Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi and his supporters in the south.

News on social media reported also clashes in southern areas like Um Al-Aranib, near Sabha early on Monday. They said Haftar's forces, coming from Jufra, clashed with a local force believed to be loyal to Gaddafi.

Tension is still high between supporters of Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi and Haftar following the announcement of the two that they are running for president of Libya. Both sides are trying to attract voters hoping to be elected when December 24 vote takes place.
