The Head of the Misrata-Tawergha Reconciliation Committee Yusif Al-Zerzah, said the Misrata General Assembly overwhelmingly agreed on the reconciliation doctrine between the two cities.

Al-Zerzah told reporters on Thursday that the two cities agreed on the doctrine for peaceful coexistence and the return of Tawergha displaced population to their city safely under the supervision of Misrata municipality and Tawergha local council.

Both cities will be committed to the doctrine and officials from both cities will be present to sign it, Al-Zerzah added, saying they don’t want the reconciliation doctrine to be politicized as “some parties want to hinder such an agreement and delay the return of Tawerghans.”

“It is possible that the first week of Ramadan will see the signing of the doctrine, and we have started searching for the location and preparing invitations for the signing ceremony.” He remarked.

“The agreement shall be implemented for the return of the return of the Tawergha IDPs safely.” Al-Zerzah indicated in response to questions about when the IDPs can return.

Late last year, Presidential Council set February 01, 2018 as the date for the Tawerghans’ return home but the return was hindered and the suffering of the IDPs increased as many had to live in makeshift houses in Gararet Gataif area near Bani Walid awaiting new decisions.
