A charter of peace and cooperation was signed Friday between the municipalities of Tajoura and Souq Al-Jum'aa at the headquarters of the Joint Chamber 1515 in Souq Al-Jum'aa.

The ceremony was attended by representatives from the two municipalities and the Council of Elders and Dignitaries, in addition to the presence of intermediaries and representatives of battalions and brigades of the two regions under the auspices of the commander of the Military Zone of Greater Tripoli.

The charter provided for the recognition of the victims' right to reparation, preserving the rights of all citizens from both regions, and not to arrest people on identity basis nor outside the law, and to work for the release of all those arrested on such account.

The two sides also agreed on the imperative need for cooperation in order to preserve peace and stability in the capital and to find solutions to the problems of the displaced persons, especially from the two regions.

The two municipalities have witnessed lately mutual arrests, creating tense relations and causing the closure of roads linking the two areas due to the dispute between Souq Al-Jum'aa-based Special Deterrence Force (SDF) and Tajoura-based Brigade 33.
