The Supreme Judicial Council said that it will create specific services to try those accused of murders, mine setting, theft and destruction, kidnapping, torture and causing displacement of citizens in Tripoli, Tarhuna, Benghazi and Derna.

The Council added in a statement that it is also closely following, with concern, all crimes which affected public and private property and the endangerment of civilians in these cities, confirming that it is working closely with the Attorney General to fulfill its legal role in documenting crimes.

These steps are being taken to follow-up with the pursuance of criminal cases and prosecutions of the perpetrators.

The Council welcomed the establishment, by the United Nations, of a fact-finding committee, to investigate human rights violations in Libya.
