A suicide bomber blew himself up at a checkpoint for a security patrol at the entrance of Sidra oil terminal at the oil crescent region.

According to local media outlets, the bomber first attack the checkpoint by a car bomb, but when it failed to detonate, he got out of the car and exploded himself as he was wearing an explosive belt.

"The bomber detonated himself but caused no human loss at the checkpoint as he did it to save himself after arriving at the checkpoint and failing to blow up the car bomb." Military sources told media outlets.

Security personnel, who are part of Haftar-led eastern forces that are in control of the terminal, found the bomb in the car and the explosives experts then defused it.

The security forces in Sidra closed the surrounding of the terminal and rushed later to call for more personnel and military support in the area for fear that a bigger attack could take place.
