The Special Deterrent Force (SDF) arrested Friday a cell affiliated with IS terrorists in Abu Saleem area in Tripoli, busting all of the cell’s militants after doing some investigation and gathering information about them.

On Facebook, the SDF said that the most important member of the IS cell is a Tunisian national, who is specialized in improvised explosive devices (IED).

“He was planning to carry suicide attacks and to target some checkpoints in the capital to destabilize it and obstruct the political track in it.” The SDF explained.

It also explained that it had raided the place where the cell was located in cooperation with Abu Saleem police station as well as personnel from the security squad 17, pointing out that it had arrested all of the cell’s members, who could have posed a grave threat to the capital.

“Details on the operation to be posted later.” The Special Deterrent Force concluded.
