Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqailah Saleh has declared that he does not recognize the Chairman of the Presidential Council (PC) Fayez Al-Sarraj or the President of the High Council of State (HCS) Khaled al-Mishri due to the absence of a legal basis for being in their posts, as he put it.

Speaking to a group of elders in Ajdabiya on Thursday, Saleh said that the House of Representatives is the only legitimate authority in Libya, revealing that the parliament had taken some decisions to please warlord Khalifa Haftar.

“We cancelled the Isolation Law because it applies to Khalifa Haftar; the man who will lead the army is the eastern region.” He said.

Aqailah added that the parliament had created the position of the “General Commander of the Libyan Army” and gave it to Haftar.

“The General Commander is retired, so we issued a decision and reinstated him in this position to lead the army and Dignity Operation.” He underlined.

Aqailah praised in his speech what he described the "sons of Sheikh Zayed" in reference to the rulers of the UAE, stressing that at their visit to the UAE at the launch of Dignity Operation, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed reaffirmed his support to operation, saying "our money is your money."

He also hailed Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi for his support to Khalifa Haftar and Dignity Operation.

Saleh called for the election of an interim president, if the referendum on the constitution fails, which he said he expects its refusal from the southern and eastern region.
