The South Korean Foreign Ministry rejected Tuesday requests from 26 Korean nationals seeking exceptions from the travel ban on Libya.

The Ministry attributed this action to the unstable security situation in Libya, adding that the applicants' plans for their safety, including their accommodations in Libya, are insufficient.

The South Korean Foreign Ministry also asked its nationals in Libya to leave the country within a month, warning those who do not comply with the decision to face the revocation of their passports, according to the South Korean Yonhap News Agency.

The ministry added that the decision is part of an inevitable measure to ensure the safety of its citizens, noting that it is monitoring the security situation closely in Libya and is planning to develop measures to secure their safety.

A South Korean engineer was kidnapped last July by unidentified gunmen from a plant affiliated with Al-Hasawna Water System of the Man-made River in the southwest of the country, where their fate is still unknown.
