The Deputy Minister of Water Resources in the Salvation Government, Ahmed Ali Al-Deeb survived an assassination attempt today in Souq Al-Khamis region, 45 km to the south of Tripoli, when he was on his way to work from Gharyan to Tripoli.

Libyan News Agency (LANA) reported Al-Deeb’s bodyguard, Hussam Abu Kanisha as saying, “four gunmen in a Hyundai-Santa Fe opened heavy fire on the deputy minister’s convoy and were met with the bodyguards’ gunfire, which injured two of attackers and obliged them to abandon their weapons and dash away.”

Abu Kanisha has also clarified that minister Al-Deeb has been shot in the thigh and the leg and was taken to Al-Zaweya Street Hospital in Tripoli for treatment, while one of his bodyguards was seriously injured during the attack.
