Libyan Foreign Minister, Mohammed Sayala, has said that Libya is doing everything in its power to stem the flow of migrants trying to reach Europe, despite Libya’s limited ability to do so.

Sayala added, during the Intergovernmental Conference to Adopt the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration, held in Marrakesh, Morocco, that investment in the migrants’ countries of origin is needed to tackle the flow of migrants.

He indicated that Libya was ready to invest billions, but some countries had refused.

Sayala also stated that there has been a decline in the number of migrants as a result of Libya’s efforts in the matter.
