Saudi Arabia has summoned the Speaker of eastern Libya's House Representatives (HoR) Aqila Saleh to inform him of a new plot that aims to withdraw the Arab, African and Islamic World recognition of the UN-backed Presidential Council, according to Libya Al-Ahrar TV Channel.

The channel reported reliable sources as saying that the plot includes asking Tobruk-based HoR to withdraw confidence from the Presidential Council, then asking the Arab League, African Union and Organization of Islamic Cooperation to withdraw recognition from the Presidential Council as well.

It also reported that Saleh was scheduled to meet with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Monday to finalize the plot.

The UAE, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have been trying to put forward a new government in Libya headed by Aref Al-Nayed, who was in Washington last month to present himself as the new figure for post-war Libya.

In a letter to the UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres on Monday, Saleh called for a resolution that withdraws recognition of the "Government of National Accord" and to recognize the HoR and its entities instead.

He also asked Guterres not to approve the Libyan-Turkish MoUs, saying the HoR doesn't endorse such deals.

These developments come after the Head of Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj has signed two MoUs with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul to cooperate in security and maritime fields.
