Chairman of the Presidential Council (PC), Fayez al-Sarraj, on Wednesday, issued urgent instructions to the Ministry of Finance to pay overdue government salaries to employees of the medical sector, as soon as possible.

This came in an expanded meeting yesterday, devoted to discuss the developments and implications of the Coronavirus pandemic situation in the country.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Finance, the head of the investigations department in the Attorney General’s Office, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, the head of the Internal Security Agency, the head of the General Intelligence Service, the commander of the Joint Force, the assistant undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior For security affairs, the chair of the scientific advisory committee for the Coronavirus pandemic, and members of the Anti-Covid-19 Supreme Committee, according to the information office of the Health Ministry.

"The battle against the pandemic is serious, and there must be zero tolerance when dealing with this issue," the PC head said.

He emphasized the need to concert efforts and harnesses all potential, stressing the importance to commit to the remedial action and the executive, preventive, and precautionary measures identified by medical and security authorities in this regard.

The meeting also reviewed the repercussions of the Coronavirus pandemic in various municipalities and regions, as well as the performance and response of the authorities concerned with confronting the pandemic, and its extent of commitment to the national response plan developed by the Ministry of Health, in coordination with the National Center for Disease Control, in the framework of the general strategy to address this epidemic.
