The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) said its Chairman Mustafa Sanallah arrived at the Tripoli headquarters on Wednesday after finishing Hajj rituals in Mecca. Sanallah was seen in photos published on Facebook being received by NOC employees.

Sanallah's arrival comes despite the decision by the Government of National Unity to sack him and his board of directors and replacing him with Farhat Bengdara.

The Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbiebah formed earlier Wednesday a committee to carry out the handing over of the board of directors' positions between Bengdara and Sanallah as per the recent decision taken by Dbiebah, amid uncertainty whether Sanallah would hand over the post or not as security tensions arise in Tripoli by forces loyal to Dbiebah who reject Bengdara for being a close ally to Khalifa Haftar.

The Libyan Oil and Gas Ministry welcomed Tuesday the decision to sack Sanallah and his board, saying the step aimed at maintaining the oil resources of the country and boosting its economy.
