Prime Minister of Salvation Government Khalifa Al-Ghweil has called the United States to continue its role in Libya until the establishment of a national government that meets the aspirations of the Libyan people.

In a televised address to the US Congress, Government and people on Monday, Al-Ghweil hailed the US support for the 17 February revolution and its role in overthrowing the former dictator, urging it to help Libya in moving from the revolution stage to the establishment of a state of law.

"We look forward to the US administration to continue its leading role in supporting the Libyan people to reach a national consensus that leads to a democratic government. We rely so much on the US role in bringing stability and security to Libya." He said.

Al-Ghweil went on to say that his government welcomes any efforts being made to bridge the gap between Libyan cities and make the national dialogue successful.

He said his government looks for establishing trade and economic ties with the US government in the infrastructure and reconstruction fields in addition to the development of oil and gas sector.

He also pointed out to his government's strategic goals which include: achieving security; controlling the borders; eliminating illegal immigration; setting up a decentralization system; building a diversified economy; and establishing good relations with neighbouring countries and all the world.

Al-Ghweil concluded his address by inviting the US lawmakers to visit Tripoli to see his government's conduct and its exerted efforts to bring about security and stability.
