The judicial authorities in Libya have taken a decision to fully exclude Muammar Gaddafi’s son, Saif Al-Islam, from running in the presidential elections scheduled to be held on December 24, along with other candidates, sources confirm.

The official sources added that Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi was excluded due to a judicial ruling of the death penalty against him.

The second candidate excluded from the elections is Bashir Salih, the former secretary of Gaddafi, who was sentenced to a prison term and last but not least, Mohamed Al-Sharif, known as a prominent official during the Gaddafi reign, who was sentenced to prison, however, later released for humanitarian health reasons.

The same sources also confirmed that the High National Electoral Commission (HNEC), received the list of excluded individuals, however, it has not yet issued a statement in this regard.
