Sabha appeals court accepted Thursday the appeal by Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi against the rejection of his presidential candidacy by the High National Elections Commission (HNEC), hence; putting Muammar Gaddafi's son back in the race for president of Libya if the vote went through on December 24.

Ahead of the ruling, tens of supporters of Saif Gaddafi gathered outside the courthouse in Sabha. After the ruling, the supporters celebrated the decision that has been thwarted for the last few days due to pro-Haftar forces' blocking roads to the courthouse and threatening to judges.

On Tuesday, the chief of security in Sabha, Mohammed Behser, accused Haftar and his son Saddam of ordering their forces to spoil for electoral process, adding that battalion 115 under the command of Mohammed El-Jarih, in addition to Tariq bin Ziyad Brigade, within the south military zone are the forces that blockaded roads to Sabha courthouse for the last few of days.

The incident was condemned by the Ministry of Justice, Interior Ministry, House of Representatives's Interior Affairs Committee, UNSMIL and UK embassy in Libya.
