The spokesman for the Sirte-Jufra Protection and Security Room Abdelhadi Drah said Khalifa Haftar's forces and Russian Wagner mercenaries are planting mines in houses inside residential areas in Sirte.

Drah said sources had told them that Russian mercenaries had been leaving mines inside houses in western Sirte to hinder GNA forces' advance on the city.

Meanwhile, the Human Rights Watch Assistant Director for Arms Department Mark Hainzy accused Haftar's forces of intentionally targeting civilians by planting mines in residential areas in south Tripoli, telling Los Angels Times that there are no military uses for planting mines but they were merely used to punish civilians.

34 civilians have been killed so far in mine explosions in areas left by Haftar's forces in south Tripoli, the media adviser to the Libyan Health Ministry Ameen Al-Hashimi said.
