Member of the Russian Social Council and head of the National Values ​​Fund Alexander Malkevich has confirmed the release of some Russian citizens who were captured in Libya.

One of the captives was from Ukraine while the others were Russians born in Armenia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, said Malkevich according to the Russia Today website.

The Russian diplomat disclosed that they learned about the kidnapping a few weeks ago and began immediate efforts to free them.

"With the cooperation of Russian diplomats, we recruited all skills and were able to solve this difficult and critical task and return our citizens to the homeland," Malkevich said.

He expressed gratitude to Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Special Representative of the Russian President to the Middle East and Africa, who "organized and led this process."
