A Russian delegation arrived Tuesday morning in Tripoli, according to the media office of the Libyan foreign ministry.

The delegation is headed by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov, and the Minister of Industry, who both, along with the rest of the delegates, met with Fayez Al-Sirraj, the Head of the UN-proposed government, the Foreign Minister, Mohammed Sayala, the Chief of the Presidential Guard, Najmi Nakoa and other officials.

Bogdanov stressed Moscow's support for the peaceful and political solution to the Libyan crisis, reiterating the importance of regaining mutual relations between the two countries.

.Al-Sirraj, on the other hand, expressed his government's willingness to regain the bilateral relations with Russia and to activate the cooperation agreements in different fields, telling the Russian delegation that Libya wishes Russia could help lift the weapons purchase ban on Libya at the UN Security Council.

"We're going to use the weapons to fight terrorists and organized crime." Al-Sirraj remarked, egging Russia on to intervene and end the current conflict in southern Libya, knowing that it has gotten solid relations with one side of the conflict in there (Haftar's forces.)

The deputy head of the Presidential Council, Ahmed Mitig met with a Russian Doma member late last year in Tripoli, where they both discussed the return of Russian diplomats to the capital among other issues.

The current visit of the Russian delegation, which only lasts one day, has also discussed economic and political relations between the two countries and the political process in Libya, besides the issue of the detained Russian sailors.

Last week, a delegation from Al-Bunyan Al-Marsoos Operation as well as politicians and civil societies' representatives from Misrata city visited Moscow and held intensive meetings with various Russian officials, including Bogdanov.
