A process of recovery and peace-building was launched on Wednesday in the presence of Libyan officials and representatives from the EU, UN, and the World Bank.

The EU mission said that the program's chief goal is to help draw a map for recovery in Libya after years of conflict.

The assessment aims to strengthen core governance and institutions, enable strong social and economic recovery, and promote national reconciliation.

Another goal is to create a national development plan and establish a mechanism to coordinate international assistance provided to Libya in support of these efforts, the EU mission explains.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to form a technical committee to evaluate the recovery and peacebuilding process.

Initially, the committee will focus on six areas, including infrastructure, reconstruction, community security and stability, national reconciliation, and peacebuilding.
