Representatives from the tribes of Tebu and Zawia in Kufra, southeast Libya, have signed a reconciliation agreement following a two-day meeting in Tunis.

The meeting was organized by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

The agreement sets out the main principles of reconciliation, including freedom of movement, individual accountability for crimes and equal access to services without discrimination.

The meeting also reviewed the progress made in the implementation of previous reconciliation agreements.

The two tribes agreed to form a supreme committee for peace and reconciliation in Kufra within one month.

The participants also called for the establishment of a neutral security force in Kufra to protect institutions, demanding the provision of social services and development projects for the region.
