The Rapid Reaction Force of Zuwara, RPF, clashed with an armed group of bandits on the road between Zuwara and Zoltan over the last two days.

The RRF said in a statement that an armed group has been putting unreal checkpoints in different times of the day on the road to rob the travelers’ belongings and cars. It pointed that it had received a tip-off about one of the fake checkpoints on that road, and it quickly dispatched a force to the scene where it engaged in an exchange of fire, by small and light weapons, with eight armed men (black complexion), who seem to belong to the so-called Tribes Army.

The clashes resulted in the burning of a car for the armed group with one of the eight armed men burnt to death inside it.

"The other bandits ran away toward Zoltan, while no one from the RRF was injured and none of our vehicles was damaged." The RRF said.

A number of armed robberies have been recorded in recent days. Groups related to the so-called Tribes Army, a wing of Dignity Operation, used to frequently put checkpoints in different places along the coastal road from Tripoli to Tunisia in order to rob the travelers, who can no longer put up with this situation and urged the authorities to protect them and secure the road.
