Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said that the only solution to the Libyan crisis is a Libyan national dialogue that would lead to a political agreement.

In a phone call with Foreign Minister Najla Al-Manqoush, the top Qatari diplomat said a political agreement would pave the way for permanent stability through parliamentary and presidential elections.

A statement by Libya's Foreign Ministry said Al-Thani affirmed his country's permanent support for the Libyan people and for the efforts of the Government of National Unity (GNU) and the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in promoting stability in Libya.

For her part, Al-Manqoush expressed her appreciation to the State of Qatar for its support for the GNU in its efforts to strengthen the democratic process in Libya.

The two sides reviewed the unfolding situation in Libya and the regional and international arenas, besides the relations between the two countries and the means to enhance them.
