Several fighters from the Eighth Battalion (Nawasi Brigade) of the Presidential Council's (PC) Interior Ministry protested Sunday a decision taken by the Head of the PC Fayez Al-Sirraj to point Khalifa Haftar's loyalist Emad Al-Trabelsi as chief of general security and security positions apparatus.

The protesters demanded the decision be cancelled as Al-Trabelsi "should not be given such a position for his public support of Haftar."

On the other hand, the Interior Minister Abdelsalam Ashour said there are no violations or tensions and the security status at Tareeq Al-Sikka, where the PC is located, is perfectly normal.

Ashour told reporters that some central security personnel protested at the prime ministry headquarters and the issues was later contained and resolved, without saying what the solution was.

Al-Sirraj appointed Al-Trabelsi who heads Al-Sawaeq Brigade of Haftar's self-styled army in Zintan as the chief of general security and security positions apparatus, which was rejected by several armed factions under the umbrella of the PC, including Nawasi, which oversaw the entrance of the PC to Tripoli in April, 2016.
