An extraordinary meeting for the Libyan Presidential Council has been held in Tripoli to review the latest developments on health, economic and political levels in the country.

The meeting on Monday was chaired by the Head of the Presidential Council Fayez Al-Sarraj in the presence of his deputies Ahmed Maiteeg and Abdelsalam Kajman and members Mohammed Emmari, Ahmed Hamza and a number of cabinet ministers.

The core discussions revolved around the ongoing preventive measures against Coronavirus as the officials agreed to form committees chaired by deputy ministers to follow up on the economic impact of any possible outbreak of Coronavirus in Libya.

The committee will be tasked also with following up on the issues of Libyan nationals stranded abroad, providing some sort of assistance as regards to residence until they are sent back home.

The meeting shed light on the mechanisms needed to provide the necessary commodities for Libyan people, including the importation issues. It also discussed the entanglement of the piling of garbage and ways to end this problem.

The state of emergency was declared by the Presidential Council on Saturday with a budget of 500 million dinars to prevent the outbreak of Coronavirus in Libya, in addition to closing all borders for three weeks starting March 16.
