The Information Office of the Presidential Council (PC) confirmed on Tuesday the release of 25 people who are subject to Resolution No. 1304 issued on September 16, adding that procedures for the release of others are under review.

The PC decided to release all detainees, held in prisons and other detention centres without any legal procedures, with the exception of five categories including those accused of terrorism, murder, armed robbery, and drug trafficking, in accordance with the resolution 1304 of 2018.

Chairman of the Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, met Tuesday with his Interior Minister Brigadier Abdul Salam Ashour, Minister of Justice Mohamed Abdul Wahed, and head of the Bureau of Investigations in the Office of the Attorney-General Al-Siddiq Al-Sour.

The meeting comes within the framework of the follow-up to the implementation of Resolution 1304, which provides for the release of detainees, whose detention exceeded the legal period and no action has been taken on them.

The meeting reviewed the conditions of prisons in general and the procedures to provide it with the necessary protection.
