The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid Dbeibah, has said that he had no objection to meet Haftar if he recognized him as Prime Minister and Defense Minister.
PM Dbeibah added in an interview with Bloomberg Agency on Friday, that he communicated indirectly with Haftar when he officially took office and began to resolve issues, including the exchange of prisoners, but Haftar's recent statements were not encouraging, as he put it.
Commenting on the progress made regarding the exit of the mercenaries, Dbeibah continued: “I am not saying that they will leave within a month or two, but they will leave eventually.”
Dbeibah pledged to hold presidential elections, which he described as historic, next December, describing the election as the most important task of his administration.
He continued that there is a very significant decrease in the quantities of weapons that are being brought into Libya, adding that Libya will not return to war.
In the same context, he referred to what he described as international interventions, as well as military regimes interventions, saying that they may create obstacles to hold the elections, although all countries officially support the elections.
Commenting on the possibility of Saif Al-Islam Gaddafi running in the upcoming elections, Dbeibah said that “he is a Libyan citizen and a son of an important tribe in Libya, and I have no objection to the candidacy of any citizen who does not have any legal problems”.
Dbeibah talked about investment projects that Libya would present at two oil and gas conferences at the end of the year, one in Texas and the other in Tripoli, adding that there are offers from Eni Oil Company, which is ready to invest Ten billion dollars in various oil fields, in addition to Total Oil Company, which has an investment budget in Libya of more than two billion dollars.
He also pointed out that he had not yet considered changing the position of the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation, Mustafa Sanalla, as the Minister of Oil suggested, saying “ there will be some changings, but not in the form requested by the minister”.
