The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdel Hamid Dbeibah, submitted on Sunday, his candidacy documents for the presidential elections to the High National Elections Commission (HNEC) in Tripoli, to become the 57th candidate in the elections scheduled for December 24.

Dbeibah said in a speech after submitting his documents, “at this historic moment in the history of the Libyan nation, I feel with you the scale of the task. I present my candidacy file to serve you and nothing else”.

"Despite all the difficulties and ambiguous circumstances that faced the election process, I asked you not to lose hope. The beginning of the right path has become clear. We started the journey together and we will complete it together”, PM Dbeibah added.

Dabaiba indicated that he submitted his candidacy for the sake of the unity of the country, promising to complete the long and difficult journey, stressing the need to work to get out of the crises in the country, saying “there will be no war after today, Libya will only be united and secured in which this great people will live in prosperity and a decent life”.

In the same context, HNEC witnessed a large influx of officials and citizens to submit their candidacy documents for the presidential elections, since the deadline for closing the candidacy period ends on Monday, November 22.
