The Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) has emphasized that all oil installations placed under their protection are open and have not been shut down.

In response to the statements made by the National oil Corporation (NOC) head, Mustafa Sanallah in which he accused PFG of collusion in closing down the oil facilities, the PFG denounced his remarks and reaffirmed that Mellita Oil Complex, the Zawia Refinery, the NOC's HQ and all its subsidiaries, as well as other oil sites, are still operating.

"The oil facilities that were shut down include those under "the rebels’ area," said the PFG in a statement, indicating that the legitimate PFG apparatus of the Government of National Accord (GNA) had suspended their salaries since October 2019.

The PGF referred to its efforts during the past period to reopen a number of oil installations, such as the Sharara field, the Elephant field, and fuel valves in the western region, affirming its condemnation to the halting of oil operation "that is the only source of income for the Libyan people."

In a statement to Al-Ahrar channel yesterday, the NOC head held the PGF -without specifying its affiliation- accountable for the numerous closures of oil fields and ports, saying it caused cumulative losses of hundreds of billions of dollars to the Libyan state.
