Palestinian teachers in Libya will be treated as their Libyan colleagues and receive a salary increase, according to the political advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in the Palestinian government, Ahmed Al-Deek.

Al-Deek told Al-Mashreq News agency that the salary increase decision for Palestinian teachers has entered into force since December last year.

"Retroactive payments were made to the effective month of December 2021. They will also receive their entitlements for the months of October and November so that the salary of the Palestinian teacher becomes the same as his Libyan colleague," the Al-Deek explains.

He expressed his country's appreciation for Libya's stance to support the rights of the Palestinian people and for all the facilities it provides to them, confirming that the Palestinian embassy continues to follow up on the conditions of its community in Libya.

Last December, the Libyan Minister of Education, Musa Al-Maqrif, met in Tripoli with the Chargé d'Affairs of the Palestinian Embassy in Libya, Muhammad Rahal, and got an insight into the problems confronting Palestinian teachers and students in Libya and ways to overcome them.

The Palestinian community in Libya is estimated at 20,000, distributed among the main cities, according to the Department of Refugee Affairs of the Palestine Liberation Organization data in 2018.
