An armed group loyal to Khalifa Haftar’s self-styled army has abducted Mohammed Abdul-Khalik, an oil worker at Ras Lanuf Oil and Gas Company from his office, 200km west of Ajdabiya.

Sources said the group belongs to so-called Ajdabiya Counter Terrorism Force, a Salafist militia known as Madkhalis.

The sources added that Abdul-Khalik was taken to Benghazi on charges of loyalty to former Petroleum Facilities Guard Ibrahim Jodran.

Ras Lanuf MP Amer Omran condemned the abduction of Abdul-Khalik and demanded his immediate release.

The Salafist groups are wreaking havoc in Ajdabiya and oil crescent towns where many Ibrahim Jodran supporters from Magharba tribe were abducted.

In March, House of Representatives MPs from the oil crescent region accused Dignity Operation forces of committing flagrant violations of the international laws and human rights against civilians.

Earlier this month, the MPs blamed the Presidential Council and the command of Dignity Operation for not protecting the residents of the area from Amra town to Ras Lanuf in east Libya from the arbitrary arrests and violations.
