The General Syndicate of Oil Workers in Libya urged on Sunday all Libyan parties to give priority to the interests of the country and spare the oil sector the political disputes.

In a statement, the bloc called on the international community, through the envoy of the UN Secretary-General, to intervene urgently to restart production and commit to neutralizing the oil sector from the ongoing "struggle for power."

"We call on the Ministry of Oil and Gas and the National Oil Corporation to put aside differences, and work together for the stability of the sector, preserve its unity, and promote production."

In conclusion, the statement urged the security authorities to assume their responsibilities, maintain the security and safety of workers, and prevent all manifestations of armaments and intrusions that occur inside oil sites.

On Sunday, the NOC declared force majeure on the El Feel field after a group of protesters closed the site demanding the handover of power to the parallel government backed by the east-based Parliament. The same occurred in the Zueitina port and the fields supplying it under similar demands.
