The National Oil Corporation (NOC) has reiterated its rejection of attempts to politicize the oil crisis in the country, saying it will not allow the oil sector to be used as a bargaining chip in a "fruitless negotiation" to achieve political gains.

NOC Chairman, Mustafa Sanallah emphasized, in a statement on Thursday, that the force majeure can't be lifted in light of the current crisis and non-organized negotiations.

"The negotiations conducted by the NOC in coordination with the Presidential Council head and the international community involves an initiative and a clear, transparent plan that includes the safety of oil facilities, the employees, and the population living in the oil regions," Sanallah stated.

He demanded that all armed groups must leave oil fields and ports and make them demilitarized zones, including the Russian Wagner mercenaries, insisting they would not be allowed to take a role in the national oil sector.

No statement was issued by the NOC -which operates Libya’s energy sector- after the agreement announced by Khalifa Haftar and the GNA Deputy Prime Minister Ahmed Maiteeq regarding the resumption of oil production and export under a new committee tasked to oversee revenue distribution.
