The Head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, received Saturday the credentials of the new Turkish ambassador, Kenan Yilmaz, in Tripoli.

Menfi welcomed the Turkish ambassador and hailed the relationship between the two brotherly nations, vowing to preserve the interests of the two countries during the tenure of the Presidential Council of the Government of National Unity.

Menfi reiterated the importance of the return of Turkish firms to resume work in Libya, especially the suspended projects, and to take part in reconstruction projects, adding that he was in Turkey and met with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan last month and hailed the Turkish role in Libya.

Menfi said that a high ranking delegation of the Government of National Unity will visit Turkey in two days and will discuss all issues and areas of cooperation with Ankara.

The Turkish ambassador expressed gratitude for the Libyan government's credentials presentation ceremony and vowed that his country would work with the Presidential Council and the Government of National Unity to boost cooperation and bilateral relations, reiterating Turkey's support for the new executive authority as it did in the past to sustain the country’s security and stability.

Meanwhile, Menfi later received the credentials of ambassadors of Pakistan and Panama to Libya in the same ceremony in Tripoli.
