The Libyan Municipalities Association said the Presidential Council (PC) should appoint a new local governing minister for his qualifications and experience not as a matter of "power sharing."

The association said Monday in a statement that the PC should give priority to the local governing ministry in its reforms package.

"The PC could appoint mayors or municipal members who have had experiences in such a type of work." The statement reads, saying the association is ready to nominate a minister fit for the job.

"We hail the current reforms and replacements done by the PC as such reforms could remedy the ailing economic conditions in Libya and boost people's living conditions." It added.

The new call by the association came after the PC had reshuffled its canine naming new interior, economy, finance and youth sport ministers.
