Salem Gunidi

Member of the House of Representatives (HoR) Salem Gunidi said Sunday that the HoR is waiting for the Parliament-designated prime minister Fathi Bashagha to brief them on his proposed cabinet before the summoning of Parliament to give confidence to the new government.

In a statement to The Libya Observer, Gunidi seemed sure that the House would back a vote of confidence for the new government led by Bashagha.

"The new government will no doubt gain confidence because Bashagha enjoys the support of the House," Gunidi says.

He confirmed that Bashagha has not yet submitted his government to Parliament for review but expects the HoR to convene a session next week on Monday or Tuesday.

Regarding the division and dispute going on because of two competing prime ministers, he said Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and Bashagha, who are both from Misrata, must work things out between them with the help of the elders of their city.

But as for Parliament, the matter is settled that the mandate of the Government of National Unity headed by Dbeibah has expired, and the House will through its weight behind Bashagha, Gunidi concludes.
