Chairman of the Defence and National Security Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) for the Western Region, Kamal Al-Jamal, has called on the Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, to issue urgent and immediate instructions to raise the degree of preparedness at oil fields, ports, and facilities, in anticipation of any sabotage operation.

Al-Jamal's remarks came in a statement in which he expressed his bewilderment at the demands of Parliament member Talal Al-Maihoub, who called for shutting down oil fields and the withdrawal of the ministers representing Cyrenaica region from the government due to the non-disbursement of salaries to Haftar's militias.

"These calls by Al-Maihoub in his alleged capacity as Chairman of the Defence and National Security Committee constitute a threat to national security and tampers with the livelihood of Libyans, which threatens the return of political and institutional division again," Al-Jamal said.

He also called on the HoR Presidency to withdraw confidence, drop the membership of Representative Al-Maihoub, and refer him to the judicial authorities to try him for the "crimes he committed," as he put it.
