Russian Foreign Ministry has slammed the administration of US President Donald Trump by dismissing US accusations that Russia is violating the arms embargo imposed on Libya.

"There is no reliable evidence regarding Washington's accusations against Moscow," spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told reporters at a press briefing on Thursday.

Zakharova addressed in her press brief several issues related to Libya, including the Russian-printed bank notes sent to the parallel east-based Central Bank of Libya, insisting they are legal and aimed at solving the currency deficit in Libya.

She also underscored that Moscow demands convincing facts that prove the involvement of Muhammad al-Kani in the crimes mentioned by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

"The US has brought destruction to Libya and harmed its social and economic structure, unlike Russia, which joined the international efforts to settle the conflict," the Russian diplomat added, reiterating Moscow's rejection to the US allegations that it had supported Haftar's attack on Tripoli.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo accused Russia of supporting Haftar's attack on Tripoli and undermining the political process in Libya through its permanent violation of the arms embargo, expressing surprise at Russia's failure to draft a UN resolution to punish the Al-Kani militia for committing crimes against humanity.
