Libya's Mohamed Al-Lafi has officially assumed office as ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to the State of Qatar after the representation was limited to the charge d'affairs level for nearly six years.

Al-Lafi, one of the notables of the city of Zawiya west of Tripoli, joined the UN- established Libyan Dialogue Committee formed in 2020.

He served in various government positions, most notably the head of the High Council of State office, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Local Government, and a minister in charge.

On Tuesday, the Secretary-General of the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Hammadi, received the credentials of Mohamed Al-Lafi, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Libya to the State of Qatar, and expressed his readiness to provide all support to advance relations between the two countries.
