Mitiga Airport management warned Sunday that many airlines might stop operating in the next few days, following the sit-in staged by the Civil Aviation Authority.

The airport management added via its page on Facebook that the Civil Aviation Authority officials are demanding the settlement of their positions similar to those in the air control, noting that the sit-in resulted in the cessation of the permit procedures for pilots and members of air hospitality.

Chartered and additional flights, as well as maintenance aircraft flights and administrative work for general aircraft maintenance, were also brought to ground, the airport added in its statement.

The airport management called on officials to consider the matter to avert what it called “the disaster”, which will leave passengers stranded at airports abroad.

Civil Aviation Authority employees at all Libyan airports have entered an open sit-in since last week, demanding that their positions be settled.
