Minister of Labour discusses cooperation with Philippine ambassador

The Minister of Labor and Rehabilitation, Al Mahdi Al Amin, met on Tuesday with the Philippine Ambassador to Libya, Elmar Cato, to review aspects of cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides agreed to sign an agreement of understanding to regulate the employment of Filipinos and their entry to Libya, according to a statement by the Ministry of Labour.

The meeting also discussed benefiting from the Filipino experiences in the fields of vocational, professional, technical training, and hotel professions.

The officials of both sides explored the possibility of establishing a specialized Libyan-Filipino center in Libya to train medical and auxiliary medical professions in cooperation and partnership with the private sector.

They further agreed to look into the initiation regarding the electronic linkage project between the labour ministries of both countries.

For his part, Libya's Minister of Labour emphasized the importance of easing the travel ban imposed on Filipino nationals wishing to work in Libya, indicating this will benefit the health sector as well as the oil and gas industry in Libya.

For his part, the ambassador expressed appreciation for the Ministry of Labour, stressing his government's interest to enhance cooperation with Libya in various fields.
