The Minister of Housing and Construction, Abu Bakr Al-Ghawi, has met with the Italian Ambassador to Libya, Giuseppe Buccino, in the presence of the Undersecretary for Technical Affairs, the Director of the Housing and Utilities Projects Authority, and the Chairman of the Administration Committee for the Development of Administrative Centers.

The Minister stressed the depth of relations between the two countries, referring to the directives of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, and his announcement of the government’s plan to rebuild the wheel of reconstruction under the title “Return of Life” initiative and inviting Italian companies to participate in this initiative and activate its projects.

For his part, the Ambassador welcomed this meeting and expressed his readiness to urge the companies to return to the direct activation of their contracts, and to discuss the suspended and contracted projects by Italian companies, and the mechanisms for activating them and re-working with them.

The Director of the Housing and Utilities Projects Authority reported that Italian companies have already begun to resume their work, including the integrated facilities project for the city of Tobruk, the Tripoli sewage treatment plant project and the Misrata sewage treatment plant project.

The Chairman of the Administration Committee for the Development of Administrative Centers also stated that several projects concluded with Italian companies in the cities of Tripoli and Zawiya have been activated, including the project of rehabilitating and restoring the Islamic Museum in Tripoli and the project of restoring the Anas bin Malik Institute in the Dahra area.

During the meeting, they agreed to hold technical meetings in the near future with the companies that did not resume their work, to overcome the difficulties they face in their preparation for resumption of work.
